Bio

Patrick is a member of TGF’s Commercial Litigation group. He has experience in a wide range of disputes, including corporate and commercial, construction and infrastructure, franchise, cryptocurrency and real estate matters, as well as mandates involving restructuring. Patrick is a practiced litigator with a depth of experience in both oral advocacy and problem-solving complex legal challenges, including extensive experience in mediations and arbitrations.

Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, Patrick completed his legal education in Toronto before returning to St. John’s to complete his articles. He practiced for four years in Newfoundland and Labrador with a regional full-service firm, appearing before all levels of court in the province. Patrick returned to Toronto in 2022 to join TGF’s leading commercial litigation team to broaden his practice and gain experience in some of the country’s most complex legal situations.

Patrick is known for his approachable, dedicated and thorough client service mindset. An innovative thinker, he is resourceful in his problem solving, bringing a resilient and positive attitude to difficult commercial litigation mandates. Patrick enjoys contributing to the professional community, having led regional and national seminars with the Risk Management Counsel of Canada at both regional and national conferences while practicing in St. John’s.

Representative mandates

As an associate, Patrick has been part of a team representing clients in the following matters:

  • Counsel for one of the co-owners in the dispute relating to the ownership and direction of The Toronto Star newspaper and related business interests.
  • Counsel for a publicly-traded cannabis company in the defence of three claims made pursuant to the oppression remedy wherein the plaintiffs seek payment for the fair value of shares.
