Representative Mandates
TGF acts as counsel to the Applicant in its CCAA proceedings. JTIM’s CCAA proceedings are related to the CCAA filings of both Rothmans, Benson & Hedges and Imperial Tobacco who are all subject to a significant class action judgment in Quebec and ongoing health care cost recovery litigation in each province in Canada totaling excess of $550 billion. The purpose of the CCAA proceedings is to provide a forum for the global resolution of all of the litigation claims against the Applicants and represents the restructuring of the tax-paying tobacco industry in Canada.
