Rachelle's practice is focused on advising monitors, receivers, trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, bondholders, lenders, debtors, purchasers and suppliers.
REPRESENTATIVE WORK
- Counsel to Ernst & Young Inc., court-appointed monitor in the restructuring of the Canadian AbitibiBowater entities
- Counsel to the largest secured lender in the Tahera Diamond Corporation restructuring
- Advised a committee of institutional bondholders holding $250 million in bonds in the Calpine Canada CCAA proceedings and U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings
- Counsel to KPMG Inc., the court-appointed receiver and manager and trustee in bankruptcy of FactorCorp Inc. and FactorCorp Financial Inc., factoring companies that issued over $55 million in debentures to the public
- Counsel to General Motors Corporation in the receivership of various automotive parts suppliers
- Advised Ernst & Young Inc., the interim receiver of video gaming enterprise HIP Interactive Inc. and its subsidiaries
Rachelle has served as an Executive Member of the CBA National Bankruptcy and Insolvency Law Section from 2008 to the present. As the TGF insolvency articling principal, Rachelle acts as a mentor and oversees the articling program.
Rachelle is a member of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, INSOL International, the Toronto Lawyers Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Turnaround Management Association (Toronto Chapter), the Canadian Insolvency Foundation, and the Ontario Bar Association, Insolvency Section.
