Emily practices in the areas of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on matters involving breaches of fiduciary and statutory duties, as well as contractual and shareholder disputes. She summered at TGF and joined the litigation group upon the completion of her articles at the firm.
REPRESENTATIVE WORK
- Assisted senior counsel to U. S. Steel Canada, in the first prosecution under the Investment Canada Act
- Supported counsel to OMERS in the Mississauga Inquiry, a judicial inquiry into the activities of Mayor McCallion
- Supported counsel to the former principal of Lakeport Brewing Corp. in the defense of a $50 million officer and director liability claim
- Assisted counsel advising the litigation trustee of Hollinger Inc. in advancing the litigation claims of the estate against five groups of defendants
While attending the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Emily was on the University of Toronto Canadian Corporate/Securities Law Moot Team and served as a Senior Editor on the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. Emily was also a summer intern at International Bridges to Justice in Xi’an, China, a non-profit organization committed to training criminal defense attorneys around the world. She is fluent in spoken Mandarin and conversant in basic Cantonese.
Emily is a member of The Advocates’ Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association.
