Ray has extensive experience in real estate litigation, bondholder and shareholder disputes, cases involving cheque kiting and civil fraud and contractual disputes. Ray is frequently retained by banks to enforce creditor remedies and has significant experience prosecuting solicitor's negligence cases.
REPRESENTATIVE WORK
- Represented HSBC Bank USA in a complex proceeding to enforce a $30 million judgment of the New York District Court (Southern District) in Ontario
- Represented various Canadian chartered banks in complex cheque kiting and mortgage fraud cases
- Assisted in the representation of a New York hedge fund holding a multi-billion dollar investment in the prosecution of an Oppression Remedy Claim in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court
- Represented various Canadian chartered banks in the enforcement on guarantees
- Represented a plaintiff in a dispute relating to a real estate transaction involving solicitor negligence, fraud by a vendor, misrepresentation and negligence of a real estate agent
- Represented various Canadian chartered banks in claims against them for breach of contract and negligence
Prior to joining TGF in 2002, following his articles at a large national firm, Ray managed a real estate business, controlling a portfolio of multi-unit residences and commercial properties valued at approximately $70 million.
Ray is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. He has written articles for the Canadian Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Seminars and for the Canadian Institute on subjects relating to civil litigation.
